There are three steps to getting a client, whether your business is online, or offline:

• Make Them Offers
• Follow up

A lead is somebody that has shown interest in what you have to offer by leaving their contact details.

They become a prospective client that you can communicate with and take them through your sales process.

You can build a relationship with them.

And if you maintain that relationship, you can have clients for life.

Depending on your product or service, you may have to educate them about your offers.

And then you have to motivate them to buy your product or sign up for your service.

This education and motivation can happen in one conversation, but often it needs more that one conversation.

So you need a system that enables you to communicate with your leads so that you can tell them more about your offers and get them to sign up.

Unless you are the best salesperson in the world, everybody won't buy from you and they definitely won't buy from you the first time they see your offers.

You have to follow up consistently to get them to buy.

Research by The Inquiry Handling Service shows that 85% of people buy after 90 days.

That's where the money is.

Yet most businesses focus only on immediate sales.

By having a system to follow up so that you can educate them about the benefits of your products or services and motivate them to sign up, you can sell more than you ever thought possible.

Once you have your system setup, you can then send prospects to your landing page.

Each prospect will be taken through your client acquisition process.

Your first step is to get a prospect to leave their contact details so that you can communicate with them.

To do this, you have to offer them something in return for their contact details.

This could be a catalog, a price list, a checklist, a free guide, free training, a coupon...

This is called a Lead Magnet. It attracts your perfect client and compels them to leave their name and email address to get the Lead Magnet.

Once they enter their details, they go onto your database.

You can then educate and motivate them to get your products or sign up for your services.

You can also communicate with them regularly to continue the relationship and prompt them to buy.

This could be via a weekly newsletter, price updates, new products, weekly specials, or whatever you can dream of.

The goal is to communicate with them regularly, add value to their lives, and get them to buy.
